Private Residence - Competition Design Proposal

Inspired by its site and cultural heritage, this villa was conceived as a gemstone nestled within the city—a hidden jewel defined by elegance, depth, and meaning. The overall form of the villa follows a diamond-shaped layout, reflecting the precision and brilliance of a cut stone. Living spaces wrap around the edges of the plot, forming a protective band that embraces a calm inner courtyard—offering privacy, serenity, and connection to nature.

Traditional Saudi arches are reimagined in a modern architectural language, enhancing airflow, light movement, and visual identity. The design features voids and cuts across the structure, much like the facets of a gemstone, allowing light to filter through and animate the interiors throughout the day. These carefully placed openings transform the villa into a living canvas of light and shadow, constantly shifting with time.

At the heart of the home, the courtyard acts as a central oasis, honoring the traditional Saudi lifestyle and encouraging moments of gathering and reflection. Together, the villa’s diamond form, cultural motifs, and interplay with light make it a truly sculptural and soulful residence rooted in heritage, shaped by nature, and envisioned as a city’s hidden gem.
